Love Horses??
If you're in FFA and don't want to raise an animal for auction, an Equine SAE may be the project for you! With this project, the student chooses to be as involved or removed as they would like. Students have the opportunity to compete along side 4-H horse kids and compete with them at the Merced and Chowchilla County Fair.
Part of the SAE project is recording time spent with and money spent on the horse. If a student does not own his/her horse, they must have proof of a lease on the animal. If a student is not in a position to lease or own a horse, placement SAE is an option. In a placement SAE, the student can either work or volunteer in a horse facility or with horses. A great way to get familiar with horses without spending money is volunteer work. There are local horse rescues that are always in need of all the help they can get. If a student so desires, he/she could consider a job working with horses their SAE project.
